Exquisite Large Moroccan Vintage Authentic Berber Hand Made Cream & Dark Brown Pure Un-dyed Wool Beni Ouarain Rug from the Middle Atlas Mountains (Marmoucha which is considered to be the most prestigious of rugs in Morocco - made of the very finest wool). We were told it was approx. 60 - 70 years old - but who knows if thats true!

We bought this piece in Marrakech at the beginning of the year from Les Nomades, who supply the rugs to the El Fenn Hotel there.

We haven't used it as its the wrong size for our place & so just looking at getting back what we paid for it. I have the rug receipt still. Gutted it doesn't work for us. We did a lot of bargaining to get this! We paid ?665 - so would like to get that back for it ONO.

Its pile of wool is short & silky with some of its geometric design more strong than other parts. Super quality wool, vintage look and feel with a few flaws and minor blemishes as per the photos. But overall its in very good condition for its age & has been dry cleaned. There are borders at both ends & you can see in the last 2 x photos the high quality of the rug - these are photos of the back of the rug where you can see all of the wool is hand tufted. Some evidence of this is at the bottom edge of the rug,

Its unique and as with any vintage item it should be expected that there is some evidence of wear and material inconsistencies, which adds to the overall history and charm of the rug.
