I need to lose some weight (about 3 stone) so I am looking for someone who has a similar amount of weight to lose (okay so I know most of East Dulwich ladies are slim but hopefully there will be some larger ladies out there hiding!!) The idea would be that we could motivate each other, perhaps meet up to go for a brisk walk (eventually a light jog!)or cycle ride, even a swim. If we start now we could certainly be in better shape in a few months time. The autumn can be a lovely time to spend walking or running in the park and I know Dulwich Park has some exercise machines - yippee. I am going to start the regime regardless. I owe it to myself and my partner, but I just thought it might be nice to have another person/or people to share the journey with. I live locally and turned 49 at the beginning of this month - I don't want to be fat and 50! plus I would love to feel fitter. So if this interests you or your have a suggestion (nice ones only) get in touch. Thank you. PS If you are currently attending WW and just want someone to exercise with occasionally that would be fine too - now I am sounding desperate!
I wouldn't mind joining in although I am 60 and do not jog. However, I do swim at Dulwich baths and cycle for about 1 hour at a time. Put on 2 sizes since breaking wrist and foot about 3 years ago and now having problems getting the extra off.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
    • First mate - I wondered if I was imagining things at 4.45 this morning . Apparently not .
