Tesco. I had a home delivery from them last week. Assume they must deliver to SE25.

However obviously the situation has changed since last week, and I did have to get a late evening delivery.

ETA: Also, I've never used them and don't know their delivery range, but Aldi and Asda?

I think the Co-op delivers, but not sure whether that's just click and collect.

(Please note I won't respond to direct/private messages or be drawn into dialogue, it's intended to be a helpful post only)

I work for an online supermarket and slots are booked for the next 3 weeks across all retailers - I suggest if you see a slot, even if it's 3 weeks away, secure it now so you know you have something in the future.

It may not seem like it but supermarkets and manufacturers really are doing all they can to keep food moving through the supply chain and on to the shelves. I'm not aware of any that prioritise an online shopper over a store shopper. but some postcodes, especially in London, may have online orders picked from a dedicated 'dark store' therefore not being picked from a shop.

Websites and apps are very slow due to the volume of online traffic so if you're asked to wait in a virtual queue before you can start shopping, it will be because they're trying to move customers through checkout without it crashing - online shopping will take much longer than normal, which is tedious, but a cuppa, classic fm or an audio book could help.

Substitutions and missing products will be very common and you won't always get what you were after.

- if items you normally have are no longer visible on the website, it's because they've been removed from the assortment

- if an item is showing as out of stock but still visible, they'll be hoping to get more stock in

- and if it's showing as in stock but is subbed or missing when delivered, it's unfortunately a case of when your order was picked, it had all gone

Thank you and look after yourselves

People are obviously going to buy fresh produce and bread/milk/coffee/wine from local stores and if you are self isolating someone else will for you (a friend or a mutual help group).

It's a small risk. Not sure whether we should wear gloves (or just wash your hands as soon as you return).

Thank you, that's very helpful.

Been notified that my Sainsburys delivery today will not have milk, eggs, flour etc. so there is an impact of the store-raiding on online deliveries, if you can find a slot that is - S'burys no slots available for next three weeks as far as i can see.

ETA: given up trying to get through on phone after an hour. Have replied to an order confirmation email requesting registration and that they implement an online option for others to register as disabled/elderly/vulnerable. Hopefully it makes its way up the chain of command. Nope email rejected. There must be a way of contacting them by email??

Tesco also has no slots available at all. Its slots go up to 7 April, and all full.

I too would like to know how people can register as being in the high risk group.

I wish I had bought a lot more stuff now on my last order, or as much as I could given the restrictions.

It's all very well to accuse people of stockpiling, but what are you supposed to do?

Ocado has suspended it's service due to the high demand, but will honour existing orders. I expect it's a logistical thing rather than not having enough food, as all the supermarkets seem to be saying there's no need to panic buy as there's enough food to supply the nation if people shop normally. Perhaps when the panic buyers start scoffing the mountain of food they've bought and start wiping their backsides with the 2 year supply of bog roll, the rest of us can shop normally...
Ocado let my 83 year old father down. His delivery was due last Thursday but Ocado then changed it to the Monday. They did not deliver on Monday and didn?t apologise until the following day. My dad is very vulnerable and has been left in the lurch by Ocado.

That is terrible. Did he get his delivery in the end? Did you complain?

Wiltshire Foods and Oakhurst Foods are very good and most of their stuff is a reasonable price. They have good choices - see on line details. Not sure whether they would have more delivery slots free - certain areas have set delivery days. have a friend in Gants Hill who is 72 and he has a fortnightly delivery at the moment as he alternates with eating out and cooking from scratch.

20 items max - which is fair for a basics shop :)

I wanted to do a Sainsburys online shop but all slots were booked up until the 8th April so, as I have problems sleeping, I decided to read until midnight and watched the 9th April appear in the delivery calendar: there were no available slots! How is that possible?

I know, I did exactly the same thing. Couldn't believe my eyes.

Really hoping things will get better over the next few weeks, supply wise.

I'm resigned to having some really weird meals based on what is currently in my larder and freezer :))

I'm also really kicking myself for running stocks down over the last few months, and also for not ordering more - even things I don't normally eat - at my last delivery, to make up for all the things I couldn't get.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing :(

Good luck everybody.

ETA: And thanks to all the lovely local community minded people who are getting together to help others in the area.

Our experience is they don’t seem to care. That’s the frustrating thing for us, if someone politely raises a concern at least take a second to reflect. Treat others how you would want to be treated.  I don’t want them to lose their job, far from it. But considering it could cost me a days work to fix any damage, I’m within my right to try prevent it.
    • The SE22 Evri delivery family are lovely, and always say hello wherever we spot them in the area. We gave them a box of chocolates during Covid as they were working their socks off at Christmas
    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
