False reviews on the tradesperson's section

Hello admin, I noticed you posted about this on the tradesperson's thread and telling them not to do it, but I, and I'm sure others, would like to know - how did you recognise this is going on? How can we tell? How can we weed out the falsies from the good people? I just can't tell. I hired one person recommended on the pages and he really ripped me off, when I tackled him about it he gave me a long story which can basically be summarised as: "But a British builder would have ripped you off more!" :-(

If you can give users some tips on how to spot the baddies that would be really helpful.

Can usually tell if the only posts someone has made are relating to the tradesperson, esp. numerous times on different threads.

Also if posters have just registered and then posted re tradesperson.

I only trust recommendations from posters who I trust - mix of those I know off forum or those who post regularly and seem to talk sense. I also prefer to have multiple recommendations for the same person rather than just one.

So far I've been not had any bad experiences.

Hi I never use self recommendations, and I always PM those who are recommending. I have found some great skilled tradesmen on here, and admin are very good at monitoring recommendations.
