Hi all

I should be grateful for some advice on how I go about selecting a full time nanny/finding a full time nanny share - eg, what sort of questions should I be asking of candidates re: qualifications or experience. I should also be grateful for any advice on what sort of hours I can expect a "full time" nanny to work - ideally it would need to be 7.30am til 7pm as DH and I both work in the City, but I appreciate that it is unlikely that we could get someone to cover that (nor do I really want to leave babyAWPP for that long, but can't currently see a way round it). Would a live-in nanny do longer hours (given they wouldn't have to commute)?

Apologies for the open ended nature of these questions, but I am a little all at sea (as you can tell!)

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I've been a nanny for 16 years with several families. As a live in-nanny I would expect to work a 12 hour day as there is no travelling involved and one of my jobs was actually 7am till 7.30pm! As a live out nanny at the moment I work a 10 hour day which seems to be the norm with other nannies that I know. All jobs are different and hours and wages are something you can discuss right from the start. You should be asking for copies of any certificates they have - college or first aid etc and references that you can check out. Hope that helps a little! Good luck!

    • Hello.   Thanks Nigel and Hparker 😀   I've got new slots available for new students looking for a piano teacher or guitar teacher.   You could start in the new term beginning September, or I'm also available adhoc-styles through the summer holidays at times.   I teach all ages, in most styles, in lots of different ways according to how you learn/like to learn.   Give me a call or text on 07730 402336.   I have connections to lots of performance opportunities/networks too.   I run regular events /student concerts, and play in bands/perform.   Natalie.
    • So do I, but I think they are in trouble as well.  Anyway, that space wouldn't be big enough.
    • I'm not talking about Starmer. I was responding to a post which  said that  Corbyn was unelectable. How people voted in the "more hotly contested election" is irrelevant. Corbyn wasn't leading the Labour Party then. Starmer was. And the turnout for Labour reflects that.
