Northumberland beach cottages

Recommended Posts

We have two holiday cottages overlooking the sea in Cresswell, Druridge Bay on the Northumberland coast - Anchor Cottage which we have owned for several years and Pele View Cottage which we have recently purchased.

Druridge Bay is a stunning area of outstanding natural beauty. There are seven miles of golden sandy beach on the doorsteps of both cottages. The beach is very clean with golden sand, rock pools and sand dunes ? it is also dog friendly! The entire bay is a haven for wildlife. We frequently see dolphins and seals from the cottage and the area is popular with birdwatchers as it attracts so many different species of birds. Guests have reported spotting over 40 species of birds and we often watch a barn owl hunting in the fields around the cottages on summer evenings.

There are so many outdoor activities to be enjoyed such as walking (the Northumberland coastal path begins in Cresswell) and cycling ? both cottages are on cycle route number one. There are also many wonderful castles nearby including Bamburgh, Dunstanborough, Warkworth and Alnwick (which is where some of Harry Potter was filmed). Holy Island is about an hour?s drive away and there are also wonderful boat trips to the beautiful, unspoilt Farne Islands. These boat trips are suitable for children and are fantastic for seeing hundreds of seals, puffins and other sea birds. It really is the perfect place to get away to.

Although we had to cancel many recent bookings on Anchor Cottage due to lockdown, most guests (some who have stayed many times before) have transferred their bookings over to next year and it is beginning to fill up. We are only just starting to advertise Pele View (so named because it overlooks a medieval Pele tower at the front of the cottage and the sea at the back). This cottage is perfect for families with children and dogs!

Below is our website address. If you look at the guestbook page, you will find out even more about the area, but do pm us if you have any questions.

    • I had a leaky toilet cistern and Niko came out the same day and not only fixed the leak but thoroughly cleaned off the years of calcium build-up. His attention to detail was matched by his kind humanity. The result was a completely renovated toilet which has never worked more efficiently as well as 'service with a smile'. MANY THANKS NIKO!!!
    • I am trying to find out about people's experiences of the 4+ and 7+ assessments. I am a teacher and have a wealth of experience tutoring for theses assessments (including my own son), but it's always good to keep on top of things as they always make tweaks to them. TIA!

    • "You have no idea why"   To be fair Sue, it's blindingly obvious to anyone who has a conversation with anyone who isn't a Corbyn supporter. And even some who liked Corbyn (like me initially) found him somewhat flaky even at his most popular But let's say you are right and I have NO idea why anybody might not vote for him. They still didn't vote for him. He lost two elections. The second one badly (and strongly predicted but the stubborn old goat wouldn't budge so we we were stuck with Johnson and another 3 million PMs in the 5 years that followed) So even with ZERO evidence, we have our eyes and ears and brains But we do have evidence   https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/27022-their-own-words-why-voters-abandoned-labour
