HELLO DULWICH MUMS,

I AM A NEW MOTHER WITH A FOUR MONTH OLD GIRL AND WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IN RECOMMENDING ANY NANNY'S OR CHILDMINDERS. I HAVE TO START BACK TO WORK IN JANUARY AND AM NERVOUS ABOUT CHILDCARD FOR MY BABY AND WOULD LOVE TO FIND SOMEONE THAT COMES RECOMMENDED! I AM VERY NEW TO THIS AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP OR TIPS ON THE SUBJECT!

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR HELP,

CAT

Hi did you get any recomendations? I am also looking for a nanny or childminder for my one year old. I am jobseeking at the moment so would probably need someone from Nov/Dec. Only for Monday, Thurs afternoon and poss Friday.

I live by North Dul station. Please pass on any recomendations! and if you live nearby we could think about a nanny share although as I say i only need 1-2 days as the mother in law has agreed to do 3 days. kate

I also know of a great nanny - I would say pm me but we're going away tomorrow and won't be picking up messages for a week or so. I have posted about her before - she is a fantastic mum of 4 herself and looked after my 3 kids for over 2 years starting when my youngest was about 8 months old (we have known her though for 6 years). Her name is Anna and her number is 07588 485284. She is warm, loving and reliable - my kids all love her to bits and I have no hesitation in recommending her. She's not one of those nannies you see sitting around the cafes of ED all day long - she took my kids off to storytime at the library, singing groups, arts and crafts sessions, the Horniman, the park and did a lot of crafty stuff with them at home too. She finished with us only a few weeks ago because I am having a career break and she does work for another family but I think that may be finishing around the new year. And she loves babies!

Hi

My child minder Shelly is wonderful and because we are leaving to move to Australia in less than a month she has availability. She has looked after my 8 year old daughter since she was 5 months old and same with my 4 yr old son. I have posted recommendations for her on this site recently which has more details but basically I have worked full time and always been comforted by the fact that my children were with her. Her number is 07931 853180 and would highly recommend calling her.

All the best!

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
    • Some of us oldies would associate Grove with the old Grove Vale School (which I went to in the 1950s)
