Recommendation for a decorator

Recommended Posts

I've just used David Maher from James Anthony Interiors - 07801 998869‬

David came recommended from a friend of a friend. in 8.5 days he decorated two bedrooms and a bathroom from scratch and redecorated two flights of stairs. He was professional, very competitively priced and did excellent work. On top of that, he went out of his way to work around the builders who hadn't quite finished on time. Nothing was too much trouble and he was completely relaxed about everything - unforeseen snagging, answering the door and handing out keys in our absence, getting out of the way when we needed to move furniture.

In 35 years of renovating properties, I've never met a tradesman that I'd be happier to recommend. If every tradesman was like David, life would be so easy!

Over a week to do 2 rooms bathroom and stairs is appalling....

Literally 5 rooms if you count bathroom as one and flight of stairs as one

Alone I can do it in 5 days

Maybe less

ALONE...

My last job

15 days work (last job)

Floor sanding

Varnish

3 windows stripped restored

Sanded

Painted

8 doors

2 internal windows

All skirtings

3 rooms plus conservatory decorated (plastered as well)

Kitchen

Garden house

External wall badly cracked - rendered

Plastered

Painted

External brick fence - broken

Plastered , sanded , painted ....

Come on then ....

10/10 quality btw

    • and when it's such a small increase, it doesn't really matter, does it.
    • I’m not trying to say anything.  I’m explicitly citing the example of the party with most to gain by saying “councils waste money.  We will go in and bust that whole nonsense up!” Only to go in and go whoops. We need more money not less ive deliberately posted a link to a sympathetic (to them) news outlet specifically so no one can go “well the guardian would say that”   why try and hypothesise?
    • Marveling at the chutzpah of Brexit supporters wanging on about a 4.99% increase in council tax which equates to circa £94/year for the average Band D, whereas it's conservatively estimated* that Brexit has cost each UK household circa £1k/year.  At least with council tax there are actual tangible benefits e.g. weekly waste clearance.  *Based on BoE report 2023...
    • so to summarise, "Party X is stating that Council Y is financially inefficient and saving can be realised or efficiencies made, but when the exercise has been completed, it was found that no savings were achievable". I don't know if you are trying to say that has happened or that if it does happen, that is what would happen.
