The bike buddies organiser is Bruce Lynn, reachable on [email protected] or 07729 279 945. He will know how BB handle under 18s (probably with the parent close at hand, I would guess).

Cycle confident are advertising family cycling courses again here: https://www.cycleconfident.com/sponsors/southwark/#events. You can book a family session (need to register first).

Cycle confident are also giving the impression that they are doing basic cycle maintenance courses though there aren't any listed. A few weeks ago they said they didn't have money for them, now maybe they do.

I've replied to jimmah and lordshipmonkey privately, hoping to get a suitable response to their goodwill

I signed up for the bike buddy scheme recently but the person I was paired with doesn't seem available for cycling anytime soon so if anyone wants to go out cycling locally, please feel free to message. I am a female cyclist in my 40s.

Were you looking to be the buddy (ie experienced rider) or were you wanting to be paired with a more experienced rider?

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
