GOOD NEWS STORY OF THE DAY

Big Thank You to the lovely Ebony Evans from Queen Park NW6 - to quote the words of my dear neighbour who was desperate for a sewing machine 'You saved my life today'

My neighbours machine a treasured Singer family heirloom broke down last week, the part required is over ?300 and needed to be shipped from the USA, working from home the ability to earn suddenly stopped.

I offered to reach out sharing an appeal on various SE London community groups and within ten minutes Ebony in Queens Park NW London offered a sewing machine, I was blown away.

When I presented the SM she was completely unprepared, holding back tears of joy - 'I could have collected the machine'

Well I love the element of surprise and besides although we are friends here on FB I wanted to travel to Queens Park - bare foot of course to meet you and it was so worth the effort.

Hey I LOVE the RAINBOW bag you gave me which so compliments my face mask - Rainbow of course.

If Facebook is used in the right way it can be a very positive.

Another recent example was a shout out for a DVD player for a friend NOW a recovering alcoholic, a complete stranger not even a 'friend' here purchased and posted a new player to my address, my friend was in tears.

This crisis has has taken communities and individual people reaching out to help to another level. Let us all hope that the new 'normal' will NEVER return to the old of everyone for themselves and many lives ruled by hand held devices.

    • that's exactly what happened - Brickhouse were forced to close due to rent hike and then Gail's didn't move in until covid restrictions lifted and normality resumed. Gail's would have opened much sooner as they were lined up and able to offer the landlord much higher rents. Brickhouse was a local favourite
