If you disagree with the decision to close East Dulwich and Rotherhithe police stations, please join the Southwark News Police in Crisis campaign which we launched in this week's paper and sign our petition.

We are calling for

- NO police front counter to be closed without a replacement, as promised by Boris Johnson in his 2012 election pledge.

- NO Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNT) to be centralised.

- NO further cuts to police officer numbers.

For months now, we have been getting more and more ominous signs about cuts to Southwark Police being handed down by the Mayor and Met Commissioner ? and then last week,Southwark?s Borough Commander Charles Griggs was forced into retirement because of cutbacks.

We currently have:

- No Borough Commander

- Falling police officer numbers

- Two out of six police stations closing

- All police front counters in jeopardy

- Safer Neighbourhood Teams pulled off their beat and centralised

- Cuts to car fleets ? leaving officers to take the bus

We are really concerned about the impact these cuts are going to have. It takes 30 seconds to sign the petition, link here, please join us to fight the cuts:

Setting them to be triggered by line crossing or areas of intrusion is worthwhile setting up as is linking them to a PIR sensor. The PIR could also be used to activate a sounder but that might upset your other neighbours. I have a few cameras around our property and I enjoy reviewing the recordings and apart from foxes and birds, I catch the occasional opportunistic thief on camera - like this one last Tuesday. If you need any help, please drop me a PM. S7.mp4
    • Not in Ed, but I was in NE England over the weekend and saw an otter in the wild! Never seen one before, it was quite lovely.
    • Well unless the heron got them later, there were the  two cootlets. I think some others of this year's babies must have escaped the heron. Many years ago (and possibly still, though I never see them any more) there was a whole heron family on the island  - mum, dad and youngster. I don't know how long herons live. Maybe this one is the grown up youngster.
    • Neighbourhood police, they often get called in for neighbourhood 'disputes', although if you have been Southwark ASBU perhaps you have already explored this
