Possible Scam to see if house is empty

My doorbell rang a little while ago and I asked who it was. A male voice said ?The Children?s Deaf Society?. I said no thanks and he left. I did not see what he looked like. Making doorstep calls for a charity in these times seems very peculiar and I felt it was a way of seeing if anyone was in. Anyone else had this?

Almost certainly genuine. I've seen them doing the rounds. Their protective gear includes a full-face visor.

The Children's Deaf Society do do Door to Door visits.

There was certainly a team out last week from this charity - with good identification and operating on a socially distanced basis. Looked genuine to me.

Yes, they were genuine and were calling along our street (Ivydale Rd)this evening. In pairs and PPE face shields etc.

This afternoon someone knocked my door, I sent my LO to ask who it was.

He asked without opening the door of course & the guy said he was from green peace.

My son said sorry my mums not here

The guy sounded baffled (possibly because of my sons young sounding voice)

But I definitely didn't hear him knock on my neighbours' door which was what baffled me!

Sometimes they go in pairs and knock on alternate doors so you won't necessarily hear the one leaving you knocking on your neighbours door.

We had them too yesterday and the phone calls have started for donations - it must be a very difficult time for charities.

Thanks for all the answers. It?s good to know that they weren?t a scam. I still don?t think it?s a great idea to do chugging door to door. I don?t usually open my door to strangers.
