jills
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the different options for the Ergo baby carrier - mainly I'm comparing the original to the performance (don't know too much about the sport). I've done huge amounts of googling, but as the sling library isn't open again until next Wed I was hoping for some personal recommendations. I've worn the original and it's great, but don't know anything about the others. The performance seems to have thinner and more contoured shoulder straps (are they still comfortable?), lighter and more water resistant material, some meshy bits, a zipper pocket that hides the hood (the hood on the original seems a bit fussy), and a longer waist strap (but a curvy bit that dips lower in the centre).Any help would be greatly appreciated!ps - I have a huge baby (well, he's only 8 weeks but I can see where we're headed) and a not so great back. I won't be wearing the sling for huge amounts of time but would like as much comfort as possible. Ramble66
I can't help with an ergo but my friend has recommended the boba 3G to me. Sorry, that probably makes your decision harder. bluesuperted
Eek and if you have a big boy I'd actually recommend the Manduca - gives more space as they grow, has built in infant insert and will allow you to front carry a very hefty boy as you can cross the straps for extra support (til you're ready to back carry). The Ergo is great but is always recommend the Manduca now, have used both for my 2yo. Sorry to complicate (and the Manduca is pricier but worth every penny). bluesuperted
I found this comparison really helpful (from a Canadian retailer) when deciding to buy a Manduca as well as my Ergo (and other slings, ahem). Good luck and happy babywearing, it's the best!http://extraordinarybabyshoppe.blogspot.co.uk/2009/08/product-comparison-ergo-vs-manduca.html?m=1Edited to add link! Mrs_Glennie
I borrowed a Manduca from the fabulous South London SLing library before I decided to buy onehttp://southlondonslings.com/Emily has Ergos to try too as well as countless other styles, she's so lovely and helpful, it's well worth a visit. bluesuperted
Was going to say sling library or else Slumber Roo do hires with money off of you go on to buy from them. Locally, Tommy's on Rye Lane used to have a Manduca in the window but think they sold it though (I was surprised to see it there!).
