Not that I'm stereotyping every man from Bristol, but I think there are a fair few backwards bigots down there.

Some years back a female friend joined me in visiting an old uni friend. We met him when he finished work on a Friday, and some of his workmates joined us for a beer. They were very blokey, and one of them just started making really crass comments to my friend about her boobs and stuff. For all he new she was my girlfriend, but he clearly thought I'd find it hilarious.

Tool.

I agree, powerful writing, really sad message that he got off so lightly.

However, while there are tw@ts in Bristol like anywhere else please don't think Bristol is any more a magnet for bigots than anywhere else; it's an amazing city with a great mix of people, loads of culture, diversity, local pride and beautiful architecture and countryside. It's a lot like a funky, much smaller version of parts of South East London, a bit like Brighton in terms of alternative lifestyles and probably one of the nicest cities to live in or near to in the UK.

Off topic, but I had to respond! Can you tell where I'm from (and will return to one day)?

Bristol is a great place with generally great people, please don't think I was tarring you all with the same brush.

You are right that there are idiot men everywhere, I just noticed a fair few in Bristol, blokes that didn't notice the 1970s ending.

I did an awards event at work a few years back and Justtin Lee Collins was the compere. Unusually for a 'celebrity' he was happy to hang around for about 2 hours after the awards were over and give the guests photo opps. It was fairly obvious that he was kissing/trying to kiss every single girl and I mean properly kissing. He was the biggest sleaze I have ever worked with, totally made my flesh crawl. He thought he was God's gift. Repulsive

I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
