and on the subject of birthdays... I want to create a Raa Raa cake for my son. I was thinking just the face on the cake seeing as it is round and fairly easy to recreate.

Anyone have experience with this type of cake? I was thinking buttercream for the hair and royal icing for the shape of the face and ears...

help!

I made a lion cake for E's first birthday a few years ago. Not specifically Raa Raa (never seen it!) but it might help? All icing was buttercream as I thought that would be easier to remove for my precious first born who would never touch such evils as sugar :)

Pic attached. Whiskers were spaghetti, eyes extra strong mints and smarties, and a quarter of a giant button for the nose.

The cake was in a book my sister in law leant me which was Australian Women's weekly party cakes.

    • Hello, I’m currently looking to buy Jellycat soft toys and LEGO sets for my children. If you have any available for sale, please feel free to message me. Thank you!
    • Useful link, thanks. I see that neither of the Dulwich Hill councillors are standing again but one of the new Labour candidates for DH recently left the Lib Dems… The Greens are led by someone who left the Lib Dems and full of people who left Labour. Reform is full of those who left the Tories. And the Tories are full of those who left our planet some time ago. Confused? You will be!
    • I'm sorry to learn that though Liam does seems well qualified. Hopefully with McAsh gone, Southwark Labour will turn to Charlie to fill the gap.
    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
