This ride is from the Cutty Sark to Thamesmead Tor. It starts by the Cutty Sark at 10am so if you are coming from further south you will need to add extra time. The start and finish will be next to the Greenwich foot tunnel alongside Cutty Sark, SE10 9HT. It's a flat ride, apart from the Tor obviously. Pushing up the Tor is permitted and will only take a few minutes.

It's 8 miles each way and we are allowing 3 hours, so pretty modest pace and time for a short coffee break. Mike will be leading and using the Thames path there and back, including some miles on of the best quality cycle path in London. Route map, including a quiet route from Canada Water to the start, is at

You must register on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cutty-sark-to-thamesmead-tor-southwark-cyclists-healthy-ride-tickets-119932412073

If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Even at the last minute it is worth cancelling.

We will keep everyone as safe as possible by observing all the Covid Regulations. Most importantly we will be maintaining routinely a 2m social distance, never less than 1m. Particularly important to maintain social distancing from other users on shared paths. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users can maintain 1-2 m and feel safe. Just in case we need them, good idea to bring a face mask.

These rides are organised by Southwark Cyclists, the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign. More information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/

    • At the time of posting previously, we had no idea of the dates we would be having the children. The maths place - you pay for a course of lessons . The coding session would be good but you need to book well in advance. Also grandson has been doing coding since 6 years old. He now has a 'mentoring role' at his primary school as his knowledge of this subject is years above his chronological age. Dates are still up in the air as their father is trying to juggle leave from a new job in the north of the country.
    • why not have a pasty shop - we could have Cornish pasties, Jamaican patties, empanadas from all the different regions.... I like all three.  I'm still going to support the Chacarero family business, as I don't support chains, just as I don't buy anything from Gail's, Nero, Starbucks etc.
    • Thought it had been a fish and chip shop at one time?
    • Try Gentrification, those with more money than sense who constantly want something different, when pie and mash isn't good enough for them.  "Argentinian Cornish pasties" give3 me a proper Cornish pastie any day of the week, at least I'd be supporting something traditionally British.   ps. tin hat at the ready........................🤣
