Our au pair has been in touch with a local (ish) English school offering four hours of English classes each week for ?100 a month. Having been to one class, they have told her they will offer two hours of class time and give her a workbook to do at home because the Covid restrictions mean that they are limited as to the number of people in the class.

However ... the school is charging the same price for only two contact hours, hasn?t offered any Zoom or other virtual contact and the class has only three pupils (they say the maximum is six). Our au pair has asked the school if there are other classes she could join for more contact hours but they are not being helpful.

We are in correspondence with the school but can I ask others with more experience than me:

- does this sound right!? I haven?t dealt with English classes before but it seems unreasonable to charge for four contact hours and only offer two

- does anyone have a recommendation of a local(ish) alternative?

Thanks

    • It's not for recycling but for good quality clothes. And sadly always overflowing onto the pavement. Appreciate your response. Ace, I didn't know that. Thank you. Great, will check that out. Thanks for that. I did look on there but it wasn't terribly clear.
    • Doesn't Kings have a minor injuries place alongside A&E? Maybe I've imagined it. I wish they would ban speakers on phones there. I recently unexpectedly had to go to Kings late at night due to 111 making a mistake and then phoning me several hours later to tell me I had to go to Kings and no it wouldn't wait till morning. In the waiting room I eventually got to after having "medical history?" barked at me etc etc  (what do they want, a list of all my ailments since childhood?)  there was a TV with the sound on quite high,  plus three people all watching different things on their mobiles with the sound on even higher. That was in addition to the usual other disruptions, people shouting etc etc. It's not a great place to be at the best of times if you are ill or injured (I don't mean the medical care, which is generally great once you have got as far as getting it). The only upside was that at least I was able to get a late bus home after I had been treated.
