Bony Fido
Locked because it's another traffic post. Please don't start new ones -AdminYesterday (Friday the 18th) at about 5:40pm an Ambulance with blue lights flashing appeared at the Melbourne Grove/Grove Vale junction, but could not proceed because of the padlocked bollards - it had to do a 5 point turn and go back via East Dulwich Grove and Lordship Lane - it finally reappeared by ED station about 4 minutes later. This situation could potentially cost somebody's life. FairTgirl
This is exactly why these planters and bollards need to be reviewed as a matter of actual emer(urgency). Please sign below pettions and contact your local councillor to let them know your feelings on this clearly unfit for purpose road scheme. Dogkennelhillbilly
If an ambulance driver doesn't know their way around the neighbourhood and drives down a street that doesn't lead where they think it does, then yes, they're going to have to chuck a uey. When the closures are made permanent, it's easy enough the make the closures in a way that allows emergency vehicles to pass over them. See for example the proposed design for the top of Aynella at the Library. march46
Meanwhile emergency services were consulted before the schemes were approved. This is nothing but opportunistic. Similar to FairTgirl on twitter blaming the increased traffic on Thursday on the planters. When in fact there had been a serious road traffic accident and all buses were on diversion. Dogkennelhillbilly
Good point - they should just make them permanent now instead of trialling them, I agree. Pugwash
Having been in an emergency ambulance a couple of times this year, they tend to use Sat Navs to get to destinations. On one of my journeys the Sat Nav sent them down the back streets of ED and then back onto Lordship Lane. If they had known the route, could have got to the same area in less time by just turning right at a junction instead of turning left.
