amydown
A dear friend has moved back to Denmark after a few years in Londond and is now pregnant. She has had a horrid time so far with extreme morning sickness (been hospitalised a few times) and I want to send her a box of goodies to lift her spirits.I am after gift ideas that are good for mums suffering from severe morning sickness and also London/ British things she might be missing now that she is in Denmark.Any lovely ideas? MummaB
What a lovely idea!But....Mmmm I'm used to it being the other way around! :-)I'm Danish and have lived in London for nearly 17 years so the list of danish foods I miss is endless....However when I travel back to DK for holidays, I do tend to miss/bring the following things (once the novelty of danish cheese, bread and sweets in abundance wears off - I miss or appreciate having some of these things in my suitcase):-Proper Tea!! (That would be day 1 of arriving - I now bring and store at my mum's, Tetley's Extra Strong tea bags....mmm I guess that almost makes me British :-))-Plain Digestive biscuits (boring - I know)-Quality/posh ginger stem biscuits (ginger is good for nausea but may not quite cure extreme morning sickness :-/)-Oat cakes (for all that yummy danish cheese)-Aniseed Twists (though I do think we have something similar at home but can't remember the name)-British comedy DVDs!! -Downton Abbey!!!-Magazines (Grazia, Glamour, HEAT - yes I'm not ashamed to admit it)-Any Victoria Hislop book -l'occtaine Lavender handcream (can't get that where I'm from!)Hope this gives you some ideas....wishing your friend all the best in her pregnancy!Oh and don't forget to send your friend Sophie La Girafe for her baby....that's what I send to all the little new Danes of this world :-)Bx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26454-present-ideas-for-a-mum-to-be-who-has-just-moved-to-denmark/#findComment-588398 Share on other sites

midivydale
Neals yard maternity products. Smells divine during the sickness times and will be a welcome uk treat during dark scandinavian winter months. Lochie
I had similar levels of morning sickness esp with second child. It's so grim and I would say the things to avoid are the 'typical' cures/comforts for morning sickness as they don't work and most people always try to offer them and it gets a bit annoying....I'm thinking about things like ginger biscuits, no they don't help!Anything that stops her feeling like she smells a bit pukey would probably be appreciated! A really lovely expensive shampoo, bath foam, shower gel. midivydale is actually onto a good one - neals yard oils. I used to keep two in my bag in case anyone walked by with smelly food and I needed to avoid puking! The citrus ones are particularly good for that. With those levels of sickness you can feel sick every day all day for months so the kindest gifts are ones that are for mum and not baby and that give her some indulgence. White company also do really nice cashmere bed socks- the ultimate luxury!I hope she feels better soon Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26454-present-ideas-for-a-mum-to-be-who-has-just-moved-to-denmark/#findComment-588641 Share on other sites
