Having called in this morning, I'd like to flag this up as a little local(ish) gem. 2 coffees and a big slice of excellent carrot cake all for ?4.40. They also do breakfast and light lunches. Light and airy, beautiful secret gardens in an unexpected location. And there's a lovely little playground alongside. It's a really attractive walk (or traffic free bike ride) from Peckham Library along the Surrey Canal walk and then through Burgess Park. Maybe 2km in total.

I went to this cafe yesterday, and was really disappointed. Yes, cheap, amazing cup of tea [always key] but I was the only person in there and every table was filthy and full of used crockery. Girls behind the counter just having a chat.

Is it run by the council, as in part of the Burgess Park regen? Such a lovely location.

    • They are. We are back to the same construction racket 8am-8pm every day for the whole of this week. The wall is one of the last things to come down, probably on Saturday. Then we can see how much of a mess they've made, especially the quantity of non-biodegradeable litter trampled into the earth. GALA 2025 - Production Schedule.pdf

    • It is intimidating looking through the book sections now.  I sometimes wonder if they're stocking bookshops' remainders. OTOH, when I put  some books out in a cardboard box for taking, it was  encouraging to see that a fair proportion of those taken were aged hardbacks.
