My Mrs damaged her camera and the LCD screen doesn't work anymore (the screen is intact). The part is about ?60 I think. It originally cost about ?260, but 4 years ago. Any camera experts know what the lifespan of a camera might be? The model is Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ70.

What I'd first check, not necessarily in this order, are (1) Current Ebay used price => ~?110 (2) Current Ebay, used, for spares, price => ~?35 (3) Any web interchanges matching your perceived problem (3) Web availability of videos and/or manuals on servicing.

The first hit (3) has yielded, https://www.justanswer.co.uk/electronics/8fyv9-lcd-monitor-panasonic-lumix-dmc-tz40-not-working.html, is worth a look.

I'm currently stuck with two Canon Powershot A500/600 series cameras with a defective switch in the SD slot. It's just a matter of a springy metal arm within the side of the slot having become slightly deformed, so that the switch isn't closed when the card goes in. I think I'm going to be have to try to correct it by a little fine prodding or poking, a bit like doing dentistry. I've checked some detailed drawings, but ideally would still like to check its conformation by sight so that I don't mess it about any more. Does anyone by chance have a spare full SD card slot that I could have a look at, probably buy and dissect?

    • No problems... That number of vans would be consistent with football issues. And if it had just been one vehicle I might have considered the timing was consistent with rushing to get back for refs - when I worked in the City the 4.00pm siren rush to Wood St nick was a regular occurrence. But 5 in convoy?!
