Cornice and ceiling rose recommendation

Having recently moved house and un-earthed a number of issues we hadn't anticipated, when the original Victorian cornicing fell down it felt like the last straw.

Our architect recommended Plastering Art and from then on in things started to improve. They created an identical mould for our cornice which looks even better than what was originally there. Having it match the original was really important to us and they have done an outstanding job. From getting a quote from them to them building the mould and putting the cornice up it took a week.....exactly what they had estimated. They were cheaper than other quotes we got and simply excellent.

They've even managed to source us two ceiling roses identical to the original (which came down with the ceiling)and have since been back to put them up for us free of charge.

It's rare when you find people who take their skill so seriously and are so reliable. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

If they don't have what you are looking for then they make it in their workshop.

We were so, so pleased with the cornicing in our Sitting and Dining rooms that we also had it put in our bedroom. Ron and Bob were so efficient, reliable and very reasonably priced. We're considering doing every room in the house!

We didn't use an architect but Plastering Art (Specialist in Decorative Mouldings) did the cornicing and put the ceiling roses up for us. They did an excellent job. If you're interested please speak to Bob or Ron on 07949 139835 or 0208 616 0207.

Ben Roche was the Carpenter who made our fitted wardrobes and I'll fully recommend him as well. His telephone number is 07903 950040 and he was recommended by a friend who had also had some fabulous wardrobes made by him.

You said you had your architect recommend Plastering Art?

I've used both Plastering Art and Miles & Wilde in different rooms (due to availability) to put up cornicing and a ceiling rose in each case. Can't recommend them highly enough, they have transformed my house! We would never consider putting up our own cornicing again as the difference in quality compared to the sorts of things you can get in DIY shops is huge. In terms of price, I did get quotes from a few companies and I think the going rate is about ?36 per meter of cornicing. But so worth it.

    • Nice topic and nice song!  1) Definitely top of Canonbie, looking North. 2) What used to be Francesca Cabrini school at the top of FHR. 3) Honor Oak playground, next to Camberwell New cemetery.
