Bought a walnut loaf from Sainsbos Local near the Plough today. It is virtually raw inside! Would you take it back tomorrow? How can I prove that it isn't baked - I feel I need some Bake Off terminology! I can taste uncooked flour and hideous squidgyness but is this enough to warrant a refund? So annoying as it was to have been an integral part of our main meal today (yes, First World problems).

Please man/women/other gender up and speak to the shop. Try a "hello can I speak to the manager/supervisor". "Disappointed that you failed your normal high standards".

It will probably get an immediate result, but you can also go to their complaints e-mail address.

If that doesn't work I suggest a sit in, or out, banners, letter to the CEO/your MP, local Whatsapp group, petition to parliament, leave the EU.

Not sure why I am spoon-feeding you this, maybe its a generation things. It's also nice to give praise from time to time.

Meanwhile a more important thing to discuss, why are the major supermarket French pastries so horrible. You get a nice coffee on the brew, the sun is shining, you are looking out towards Dulwich Hamlet thinking you are on the continent then you are hit by this solid doughy thing. Sadly I vote with my feet.

Sorry for the confusion Cat. As it is sometimes difficult to set the tone on posts I add something a little self deprecating ie telling people not to whinge, and then whinging myself. It's supposed to lighten things, and hopefully appear less confrontational or pompous. I had a couple of trolls who liked picking apart my posts but they seemed to have retired.

There is a serious point of going to social media rather trying to sort out directly. An example from pre-social media days:

The council are consulting on a new bus route and stops and are knocking on doors. They go to the affluent area; oh don't be silly they don't need buses there.

They go to the working class area "excuse me sir, would you like a new bus stop outside your house" The response is a punch (ie no).

They go to the middle class area, with the same question, and the person answering mumbles something in reply, then writes to the Times and/or their MP complaining about the proposed bus stop.

Its an analgy and I'm not advocating you attack the staff in Sainsburys or other confrontation.

    • From the BBC: "The conclusion of that deliberation is that we accept that the way the speech was edited did give the impression of a direct call for violent action. The BBC would like to apologise for that error of judgement." What is wrong is editing someone to make him say something they didn't.  With respect Sephiroth, this is something I know a bit about and I have encountered, over the last decade, people in programming editing contributors to make them say things they didn't, the end point being to hang them out to dry. It's happening more and more and it's my job to make sure that people on TV are not mis-represented, but shown in their true light so that viewers can make up their own minds. You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes and how hard some us fight to keep things impartial.  It's also worth mentioning that I have personally lost work because of Trump suing US networks, and that's one of the lesser reasons why I'd like to see him gone.  But broadcasters have a moral obligation to tell the truth and that's the hill that most decent professionals in the industry are willing to die on. Otherwise, how can the viewing public trust anything that's beamed into their living rooms?
    • Amazing work from Leon, doing out electrical survey and replacing our consumer board. Great communications, tidy work, reliable friendly and reasonably priced. A pleasure to have around and highly recommended.
    • Counterpoint: there was zero misrepresentation of truth    never mind the bbc or the uk (for now)-  his own country and government impeached him for trying to overturn an election.  What happened was unforgivable. Trump adding a few “non violent”’ legally wise words absolves him of nothing  but back to bbc and uk.  They were correct and now we have Trump threatening to sue for a billion have English people lost all self-respect (that question was answers 9 years ago and is repeated almost daily)
