malumbu
I see them from time to time including on a bin store in SE22 Big elsewhere - Scandinavia has done it for years. Google it and you will get lots of good advice. Our shed#s pitch is too great to do this. }~Post some nice pictures when you have done it Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/265858-green-roofs/#findComment-1457606 Share on other sites
Nigello
It can be ??? to have someone install one so DIY is a better option. It?s a great idea. Sedum and succulents do well though plants that attract pollinating insects and other wildlife would be great to have if the right conditions are provided. Good luck Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/265858-green-roofs/#findComment-1457700 Share on other sites

mancity68
I'm in the process of putting one on my bin shed (old one collapsed). I've looked at sites like greenrooftops and sky garden and sedum supply. All have helpful tips and seem to be quite helpful if you call for advice. KidKruger
moss would look good, but I think needs plenty moisture. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/265858-green-roofs/#findComment-1458137 Share on other sites

KidKruger
Sue I have plenty moss on my car window seals (way is it always there that it grows ?), just help yourself, perhaps you can start a moss colony on your shed roof. It's the old blue Bentley. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/265858-green-roofs/#findComment-1458421 Share on other sites
ToAT
I've just done this on a small shed using a mixture of sedum and moss. Total cost was less than ?40.I used pond liner to waterproof and a drainage layer I bought from amazon. I have spare left of both which you're welcome to have if you want to give it a try. mancity68
Pooh, ToAT, how did you plant your sedum. Did you get modules or a mat or just soil and plants? ToAT
I used a ready-made mat earlier this year for a bigger project, which was really easy. I was trying to cover a small shed this time so thought I'd try doing it myself - I used some sedum plug plants and some really stony soil.
