Man beaten and bound in own home by robbers

A man was bound and beaten in his own home by robbers who stole cash and jewellery.

The homeowner, aged in his 50s, was attacked by two men in Dulwich, south London, in September.

One of them had a firearm which he tried to use but it did not work, leading police to believe it was an imitation.

The victim was hits on the head and his feet and wrists with tied with tape before being pushed into the downstairs toilet.

The thieves are believed to have fled with a large amount of cash, as well as electricals and jewellery.

The victim was eventually able to escape and alerted his neighbours, who called police

One of the suspects is described as being 'Middle Eastern European', of slight build, in his late teens or early 20s, with dark brown skin, black hair, a black beard and a thin pointed nose. He did not appear to speak a lot of English and was repeatedly heard to say: ?money, money, money?.

The second suspect is described as being an Asian man, possibly south-east Asian, of a stockier build, around 5ft 10in tall. He had short black hair and was wearing blue latex gloves.

Southwark police posted an appeal for witnesses on Twitter on 14 October.

I only know that via a post on my road's WhatsApp group.

It's possible that there were valid operational reasons for not publicising it before, but I don't know what they would be.

Does anybody know if they have caught the people involved?

Also, does anybody know how they got into the house?

    • I would love something like this..I remember the one where Gails is now..It had some bric a brac furniture and 2nd hand clothes, I don't remeber the Oyster bar. The issue with the one on Zenoria St-And I speak as a long time habitué of Portobello, Kensington Market, Alfies,Spitalfields,Covent Garden (back when it had a decent vintage market on Mondays in the 80's and Early 90's) ..Was that a lot of the stuff they sold looked a bit meh..like a bad car boot fair. I also remember when we first moved here a small indoor market on the corner of North X road and Felbrigg rd that had bric a brac and bits of furniture..That one had some good stuff. I think the secret is in having a good mix of stalls selling well curated pieces at decent prices...It would also be good to have a few tables and rails available to rent for one-off sellers (car boot style) by application. When I lived in Notting Hill I used to do Portobello under the flyover a couple of times a year and made really decent money because people tended to go there on sundays for the Casual stallholders rather the same dealers selling the same stuff.
