Peckhamgatecrasher
Mentioned in recent Guardian article:https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2020/oct/12/weird-wacky-worlds-greatest-unsung-museums-hilton-als-mary-beard-russell-toveyNice to see some publicity for a charming, if not totally bonkers, man. pecksniff
Steve is a long term friend and lovely person. His house always brings a smile when passing. Penguin68
This is entirely charming (and wholly mad and eccentric) and changes (grows) every time I visit. The owner/ artist is a wholly lovely man, and his vision compelling. There are bits I'm less fond of (dismembered dolls), bits I love and all enchants. The garden in spring and summer is a delight. malumbu
What a lovely thread and a lovely place. Good to have some positive stuff. Crazy but wonderful place. PeckhamRose
I LOVE how he says he does not live in the house, he lives inside his head. That's exactly my feeling about me. Can't wait till it opens for business again! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/266901-house-of-dreams/#findComment-1460958 Share on other sites
Sue
I love the House of Dreams! Nice to see the Garden Museum got a mention in the article, too!Plus I'd never have known there was a Derek Jarman exhibition on there if not for this thread, so thanks PGC! Earl Aelfheah
I mean he may he lives in his head, but he also, in a very real literal sense, lives in that house. Fair play, it's an incredible piece of work, but a challenging home one would imagine. northernmonkey
There is a video somewhere on youtube of them - so far its all downstairs and the upstairs is very different. They come across as such a lovely couple on the film, its an interesting clip. Studio-S.E.2.2.
Steve's wonderful house is absolutely worth a visit, when it's open. A visual feast, and moving stories behind the making of it. We are so lucky to have it in East Dulwich. It's a shame that his fab mosaic floor at the front what was The Blue Mountain Cafe (then rock Steady Rum lounge) got covered up with a dark wooden floor on top....Here are a couple of photos of details of it (and my feet!) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCMYlhmJza4/https://www.instagram.com/p/CCNwscsJNPL/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/266901-house-of-dreams/#findComment-1517046 Share on other sites

northernmonkey
Despite having seen that floor outside Blue Mountain 100s of times over the years I?d never made the connection, even though now it seems obvious. Hopefully at some point in the future it can be uncovered Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/266901-house-of-dreams/#findComment-1522923 Share on other sites
