After some googling, I ended up speaking to Dyson customer services and ended up with a new battery - easy to fit - which solved the problem of drops in power. There are a few videos on Youtube and advice via google searches as well. The batteries only last a few years, apparently, before they become inefficient (found this out via a google search).
