Just saw this on a Southwark newsletter.

"The Council is committed to creating more opportunities for community gardening and food growing and is launching an Allotment Expansion Guarantee in 2021.

If you live on or near a Southwark Council estate and you would like to create new food growing plots, the council can support you. The Community Gardening Coordinators will work with groups of residents to plan, build and run growing spaces on LBS land.

Tell us about where your community would like to grow food and we'll be in touch as the campaign launches.

Enter your email below and we'll let you know when this Commonplace is ready."

The interactive site hasn't launched yet but you can register to be notified when it launches.

(Am conscious I have started a couple of new threads today. Having signed up to a whole bunch of council alerts I keep coming across things that I think people might be interested in. If I get boring someone tell me to stop!)

I think most of the links you?re posting will be of interest to some people. I do wonder though whether posting in the general ED issues section is the appropriate place as many apply to the whole of Southwark, not just ED, and would be more appropriate posted in The Lounge. Similarly, the one you posted earlier about pupil places might be better off in the Family Room.
On a related note there are plenty of community gardens looking for volunteers (although I expect that this will be on hold at the moment). Not sure where the closest to SE22 is but if you come over Lewisham direction there are many - Devonshire Road, Sydenham Garden, Wild Cats, ones popping up by other railway lines towards Telegraph Hill and Crofton Park. I'll put up links if people are interested, perhaps in a separate thread.

I?ve often thought of this programme over the years, but it?s very relevant now and could be here in Southwark

Monty Don visits 80 gardens around the world, and they?re beautiful. But the ones in Cuba are my favourite. I?ve added this link and the Cuba part is nearer the end. Have a watch, it?s really inspiring.

    • Hi there  We live on Woodwarde Road backing on to Alleyns Top Field.  Our cat Gigi has gone missing — it’s been about 24 hours now. She is a cream Bengal. Could you please check sheds, garages, or anywhere she might have got stuck please? And if you could keep an eye out or share on any local groups/forums, we’d really appreciate it. Photo attached.   Thanks so much! My name is Jeff on 07956 910068.
    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
    • There’s a couple of Gov petitions going on in relation to fireworks at the moment but this one is for banning them entirely except organised displays if anyone wants to sign. This is the only sensible way forward in my view. No one should be able to let them off in gardens or anywhere like that, it’s crazy. I am surprised some of you have said it hasn’t been as bad this year. I live near DKH Saino and it’s been absolutely terrible my way for days. This petition gained about 20,000 just in the last day or so so clearly the appetite is there! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559
