Hello, I?m posting a recommendation for our current childminder Lorna Barley who has availability for another child and a new playmate for our daughter.

Lorna is kind and our little girl is thriving in her care.

She?s also OFSTED registered and has looked after many children over the years.

She?s based near St Anthony? Primary School and you can contact her on 07958 363319.

I?m happy to provide a reference too.

Lorna has been looking after our 2 year old daughter since she was 10 months old and has developed a close relationship and strong bond with her.

Lorna is warm and engaging with the children in her care whilst creating clear boundaries. She encouraging us to work together at various stages of development, she always communicate progress to us so we can work together on progressing the same skills at home. She is very quick at identifying and flagging up areas that may need attention.

Lorna has many years experience with children and a wealth of knowledge of early years development along with huge amount of energy and strong sense of fun. Out daughter loves the time she spends with her. I really would recommend her setting.

I want to add to the recommendations for Lorna. Our daughter has been going to Lorna's for a year now - she started there age 10 months. She loved it there from day one! Lorna has a great relationship with the children and our daughter always looks forward to going over in the morning.

Lorna does a whole range of activities: arts and crafts, planting flowers, playing in the garden, going to the library, visiting parks and playgroups, etc. She also provides healthy food for the children and imparts good manners (e.g. taking shoes off indoors). Our daughter is always learning new things at Lorna's.

Lorna is a very experienced childminder, and our daughter has benefited greatly from her setting. I can recommend her wholeheartedly.

    • Actually I don't think so. What caused the problem was the ban on councils using the revenues from sales to build more houses. Had councils been able to reinvest in more housing then we would have had a boom in building. And councils would have been relieved, through the sales, of the cost of maintaining old housing stock. Thatcher believed that council tenants didn't vote Conservative, and home owners did. Which may have been, at the time a correct assumption. But it was the ban on councils building more from the sales revenues which was the real killer here. Not the sales themselves.
    • I agree with Jenjenjen. Guarantees are provided for works and services actually carried out; they are not an insurance policy for leaks anywhere else on the roof. Assuming that the rendering at the chimney stopped the leak that you asked the roofer to repair, then the guarantee will cover that rendering work. Indeed, if at some time in the future it leaked again at that exact same spot but by another cause, that would not be covered. Failure of rendering around a chimney is pretty common so, if re-rendering did resolve that leak, there is no particular reason to link it to the holes in the felt elsewhere across the roof.
    • Hey, I am on the first floor and I am directly impacted if roof leaks. We got a roofing company to do repair work which was supposed to be guaranteed. However, when it started leaking again, we were informed that the guarantee is just for a new roof and not repair work. Each time the company that did the repair work came out again over the next few years, we had to pay additional amounts. The roof continues to leak, so I have just organised another company to fix the roof instead, as the guarantee doesn't mean anything.
