A reminder that after getting the vaccine, people should still socially distance, wear a mask etc, as it won't prevent you from catching the virus and potentially passing it on. The Gov should really be hammering this point home to people.

At Biden's inauguration last week, noticed quite a few people were 'double masking'...

Useful article by @j_g_allen on importance of face masks:

Homemade masks are 50% efficient

Blue surgical mask 60-80% efficient

For maximal protection use cloth mask over surgical mask 90% efficient

To be fair, it is unknown whether it will stop you passing it on or just reduce the severity of any illness should you catch the virus. I agree, though, that anyone who has had it ought not to abandon the regulations.

On first read I thought this was a clever joke playing on Boris's name and the govt lengthening of the timing between doses....then I confirmed elsewhere that its a real story, which is exactly as it reads:)

im still sure there's a good joke in there somewhere!

Another issue is whether the existing vaccines will protect against all the new mutations, and in the case of some of the mutations, it seems - at the moment - probably not.

    • Dulwich College governance issues always remind me that many of us are helping subsidise the school via what we have to pay to the Dulwich Estate. The original Edward Alleyn will, which bequeathed the Dulwich farmland that forms the basis for the Estate, made for the provision of '12 poor scholars' - I'm not sure propping up a school serving the world's elite in its many guises was what he had in mind.
    • I went and will post a summary in morning. It was a farce. But the good that came out of it was the start of a physical petition and I will get started on a strategy group for an orgnised opposition to the extention. So watch this space and if anyone is interested in being part of that strategy group, please DM me.
    • A letter, you say - we haven't had one of those (again...).  Has anyone seen any blue notices on the park railings? Or an advert in a 'local paper'? All things that Gala are supposed to be doing as part of their application, according to the consultation document. And will there be any penalties if they don't? 😖 Is there any update from those who attended either the online or physical PR tick box events? Such ridiculous times and location, why not hybrid & local?
