Hello!

My name is Beth Lilly; I am a professional actor and LAMDA tutor and I am now offering ONLINE LAMDA lessons!

WHAT IS LAMDA?

Lamda is one of the UK?s oldest and most respected London Drama Schools and awarding bodies. Lamda have been offering practical exams in communication & performance subjects for over 130 years.

The benefits of LAMDA Exams are endless. To name a few, they help to individuals improve self confidence, communicate clearly, improve reading skills, express themselves creatively, host meetings & presentations and build their performance skillset. Ultimately, they are about achievement and empowerment. They encourage self-expression, self-assurance and, most importantly, the lessons are fun! They are for anybody and everybody- there are no access requirements beyond enthusiasm and passion!

A Lamda exam is the speech & drama equivalent of a music grade. They go up in grades and culminate at Grade 8 (Gold Medal). The qualifications are Ofqual recognised, and, depending on the grade, can gain you UCAS points. I have worked with several young people to achieve the grade they need in LAMDA that in turn adds to their chances of getting into their uni of choice. The best thing about LAMDA is that it ultimately supports people of all ages and abilities develop lifelong skills.

Online LAMDA is brilliant for engaging children in a creative and fun manner; my experience of teaching this way since March 2020 is a very positive one, and my recent exam results reflect that (ALL merits or distinctions!) But it isn't just children who can benefit- literally, there is no age restrictions!

WHO AM I?

I am a working actress and voice over artist based in East Dulwich. My credits include The Play That Goes Wrong (West End), The Railway Children (York Theatre Royal), Grantchester (ITV) and Doctor Who (Audio-drama, Big Finish). I trained at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, gaining a 2:1 BA (hons) degree in Acting.

I have been teaching LAMDA at Stagecoach in Blackheath for the last three years, working with children aged 6-16 (moving to mainly online last year). I absolutely LOVE IT and am proud to say my students have a 100% success rate!

WHEN?

I am very flexible on my teaching times- we can find a time that best works for you. I generally recommend a one hour lesson once a week for around 8-10 weeks before the exam date (which are also online currently).

HOW MUCH?

The lessons are ?35 p/h. There is also an exam entry free- these vary depending on which exam you choose to take, but are all around ?28 mark.

WHAT NEXT?

I'd love to hear from you- please email me on [email protected], or give me a message or a call at 07792940922.

I am fully DBS checked, and have worked for several families in the area as a nanny- can provide excellent references!

    • It's not far from Lordship Lane if you cut down Ashbourne Grove/Melbourne Grove. Depends where you start from, I guess!
    • I doubt if it was something special - it has been full a few times I've been recently and when I have been able to get a space I've been lucky and bagged the only one available. I think there are only around 15 general spaces. Others are for staff, blue badge holders or EVs. I guess in winter people are more likely to drive, it wouldn't take much to fill all the spaces with the different things going on at the surgery/pharmacy such as blood tests, picking up prescriptions. It's possible a lot of the cars are in and out in 15 mins, i've not monitored it closely. This morning with all spaces filled when I arrived there were a couple of cars loitering in the hope of a space becoming available. I didn't want to risk it. As has been said, you can drive in and out and be caught on camera and not get a ticket but I'm not sure what the grace period is, if there is one.  Like you, I don't think a significant number of people are parking there to go shopping - it's too far from Lordship Lane as I found out this morning when i had to run from LL to Tessa Jowell! i guess the car parking spaces just can't cope with the number of legit drivers using Tessa Jowell and if that's the case not a lot can be done about it.
    • Wanted near Bellenden Road: firewood. If you have any spare or unwanted firewood (e.g. left by previous owners), please let me know. Thanks!
    • I go there quite regularly (don't ask), on my own behalf and as a chauffeur for family. I have never noted people parking up, going in and then straight out again once registered. Some times of day (and some days) are much busier than others, as you might expect, especially during winter vaccination season.
