Hello.

I am 14 year old boy looking for work experience for one week in February. I have so far found this difficult as many businesses don't seem to take school students until they are 15 for insurance reasons. I am in Year 10 but have a summer birthday so will not be 15 for some time. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful.

Thanks L

If you don't know what you want to do, think about a shop/ cafe restaurant locally. If they like you, you might be able to work there when you are older - in holidays/ weekends etc .Maybe full time .Have you asked parents' friends? Good luck I know its a very young age for employers but family friends or your local shops that you go to might be more willing.
My daughter did her DofE service at Mind charity shop. She was in the same position as you, but the manager was happy to take her on if I wrote a disclaimer letter. Perhaps your parents could offer the same deal to a business/shop.

    • My memory, admittedly not very reliable these days, places the shop on the block on the left hand side just before Burgess Park going towards Camberwell. Have also found a reference to Franklins Antiques being located at 157 Camberwell Road which is on that block. This is a screen shot obtained from Google maps of that address which accords with my memory except the entrance door was on the right hand side, where the grey door is, rather than in the centre.

    • Anyone upgraded their TV for Christmas?! I'm looking for a smallish Smart TV I can use with earbuds. Not more than 56cm high and  25cm deep. A 26" one used to fit.  Thanks!
