She's 6 and has been unwell on and off since November- tonsilitis, then a tummy bug, then chicken pox over the Christmas hols. She seemed to be getting over the cp but then last week went downhill again- intermittent high temperature (39.9 today), very lethargic and has been sick a few times.

I will of course take her to the GP but if anyone has anything useful to offer I would be grateful.

I've been through bad phases with mine, when it seems to be just one bug after another after another, compacted one year by the two oldest getting chicken pox either side of a school half-term holiday. We have had winter seasons when one or another has seemed to be ill for almost 3 mths coming out of one thing into another. In the whole grand scale of things it has always been minor illnesses but worrying at the time and esp when it seems relentless.

Just have to grin and bare it, do get her checked but she will soon be out of it and you will have winters when you don't remember her being ill :)

Latest bug sounds like what my 2 (4 & 6) had before Christmas. Sorry to say, it took mine about a week each to get over it. Nothing that wrong just VERY lethargic with high temps coming and going and the odd sick bout. If you have the time, just get the duvets out and lots of cbeebies / films etc. I would almost have enjoyed the excuse to slow down if it hadn't been the week before Christmas!!!

But you have my sympathies, what with all that's gone before it for you too.

My daughter has been on and off this winter catching everything. Its been a bad winter for bugs and illnesses to say the least. My daughter is 3 and started pre-school in September, since starting she had a constant cold that has only just cleared up. She missed the last 4 weeks due to staph infection, vomiting bug, chesty cough and fever. Its just been everything in one. She's never been a child to get ill apart from UTI's. I've just ordered a load of Sambucol online to boost her immune system and am going to continue to give it throughout the summer too. Hope your daughter is back to her usual self soon, sympathies here too xx

    • I wouldn't be going all the way to Dobbies  just to take flowerpots! 😀 It's a very good garden centre with a wide range of well kept  plants and helpful staff, at least it was on the only occasion I've visited it, last year!
    • Why do Councils need more funding? What are they spending our money on, how efficiently are they running? are they performing an adequate service as is? Are they viewing the public with contempt, that we will continually foot larger bills to cover all and any costs? Do our counsellors do their best, for us? why are they adding this on to the residents, on top of tax already paid? Council tax is not insubstantial. The service provided is not great. I do not believe they use our money effectively.  Our CT Bill is £50 a week.

    • It is looking like we will.get an increase of 4.99% by Southwark plus the additional increase of £20.13 by the GLA  https://opencouncil.network/meetings/96736 Whilst there are compelling reasons that councils need more funding, it still is a painful increase whilst we are still in the cost of living crisis, unemployment is rising and other factors.
