The parks manager and one of the DV councillors responded to pictures I sent them of overflowing bins after one slightly balmy Sunday in lockdown. They agreed that they would need to put more bins in and/or increase bin collections during the day as we get closer to the double whammy of no lockdown and - hopefully - sunny, warm weather. I was impressed they both responded so quickly and with good news, so thanks. (Subtext - sometimes the powers that be do respond to direct communication so pleases give it a try, alongside/instead of EDF outpourings.)

Nigello, I agree. It's always worth contacting people about these things if they are bothering you. I've also had positive responses from the parks team and friends of Dulwich Park about similar issues. Sounds like they are really trying to get on top of the litter situation- it's just the behaviour of some members of the public that need addressing. Unfortunately, that's not so easy.

    • Ah, thanks,  it all comes flooding back. I've actually been to the Hastings shop, I'd forgotten all about it, along with her name! Didn't she (in between?)  take over what  was then The Magnolia, previously The Magdala, now The Lordship, with her then partner? Or is that some figment of my imagination?
    • Looking for crate/toys/play pen etc. Ideally will buy in a bundle. Can collect!
    • A belated recommendation for Iain and Paul od Oddbods who came to help me with various jobs before Christmas.  Painting ceiling, renewing silicone around bath, repairing a window sill which was almost beyond repair and hanging a large mirror.   Very happy with their work and they are friendly and very reliable and excellent at communicating.  No hesitation in recommending them.
    • I just wanted to post for all my neighbours a recommendation of Niko, the wonderful plumber who works locally. Niko has done work for me over the years, including large and small jobs. He recently replaced four radiators in my house which have helped us really be warm for the first time! I recommend Niko so whole heartedly because (1) he is completely straight forward and will advise you not to do something / a cheaper solution, if that is what is best for you; and (2) he is one of the kindest and most honest people I have ever known. He goes the extra mile to sort out problems, particularly urgent ones.
