I have been informed that ED police station has now been sold off. Currently housing CID officers whilst Walworth PS is being refurbished, and also the Safer neighbourhood team. Once these teams have moved on. the place will close down.

The CID officer who informed me stated that he thought that a property developer had purchased site

This webpage http://content.met.police.uk/Borough/Southwark/Contact lists the opening hours (or alleged opening hours in the case of East Dulwich!) of the Southwark police stations that are open to members of the public.

Alternatively on the top right of the webpage you can enter your postcode and it will tell you which stations are the closest.

One of the hacks at the South London Press just tweeted that Southwark, New Cross, Downham, Clapham and Woolwich fire stations are all to close. Peckham retained but goes from two to one engine.

With all the these fire stations and cop shops closing it'll be interesting if there's another massive riot.

    • Agree that councils were not allowed to plough back housing revenue to create or improve stock. Young people especially, if they are lucky to have a decent job salary wise, find it impossible almost to find rented accommodation which is in a reasonable condition. We have a family member who is sharing a 3 bed ex council flat in Kings Cross area and are paying £2,500 pm between the 4 of them plus all utilities.
    • It wasn’t that long ago that Southwark planted a strip of seed bearing plants specifically for birds. It was parallel to Peckham Rye by the Harris Boys’ school. Naturally, it has disappeared courtesy of Gala.
    • Silly comment.  Read the attachment.  Or go to i-player and watch Winterwatch: https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/documentaries/winterwatch-jack-baddams-protect-birds-comment/ Our gardens are not natural, many of the birds that use them are dependent on us.  Most of us feed the birds, including myself, do it for our own pleasure rather than in a belief that we are reversing the damage done to nature by humans over recent centuries.
    • Thanks @Sue I had no idea what they delivered. Personally I just dont get why anyone living in London would bother with something like this, We can all pop down the road and buy bread, pastries etc and know what we're getting.. Just seems a bit of a yuppie fad and waste of money. But thats just my opinion!
