Nigello
...doors Now you are here, has anyone had experience of stripping and then varnishing internal doors (the mock-Edwardian kind, with indented panels). How much is a good price for one; how long would it take a professional; any recommendations? Blah Blah
There are places that dip them into a chemical bath to take all the paint off in one go. That's what my parents did. I think it cost about ?40 for each door. These guys do that in Dulwich. https://www.pjpine.co.uk/door-stripping/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/278912-stripping/#findComment-1495389 Share on other sites
KidKruger
I had some doors dipped years ago, some of them warped badly afterwards, the others just a bit.Other identical doors I?d not had dipped didn?t warp.Since then I?ve stripped doors by hand with a hot air gun / chemicals / blowtorch. There be a reason someone can identify for the warping, which may explain why others have had doors dipped which did not warp.
