Can anyone recommend one? Happy to pay privately.

Feeling a bit desperate. My 9 week old daughter has silent reflux and has now had several days of not really feeding well (she's BF). When she sucks hard, it makes her gag. Her current regime of medication is clearly not working. I'm sick of being fobbed off by the GP.

Hi,

I feel for you. Have been there. Am in a rush so sorry for a quick reply. Babu Vademalayan at kings.

Do a search for my old thread, "infant reflux" there ia alot of info there from forumites.

Will pm my mobile number and you can call me anytime.

Again- sorry it is so rushed.

C xx

We saw a good paediatrician for relfux at Lewisham - will see if I have her name on record anywhere. Very much feel for you, too - it's horrendous. Can you kick up a fuss with the GP and insist on being referred? (- though I know it's hard to find the energy...) Good luck - will post the name of the doctor when I find it (hoping I've got it somewhere)...
Second Babu Vadamalayan at the private dept of Kings (Guthrie clinic) - he's very matter of fact and just gets on with sorting it out, was such a relief to be taken seriously when we first went there with our younger son. We saw him off and on throughout our son's first year. But the good news is after our first visit the medication and formula he prescribed stopped the pain. Not overnight but there was an obvious and marked improvement. Hang in there - it's so tough but every day they get bigger, it gets a bit better.
I would also recommend the OCC as an additional support... I went there with my daughter who had terrible reflux for the first 4 mths and who knows whether the osteopathy 'cured' it, or medication, or simply her stomach etc maturing but I found the centre to be great. At the very least you feel you are doing something and I also think it helped that my daughter was being 'handled' by someone with calm and professional presence. I went when it was based in Clerkenwell (near where we lived then) but I believe it has moved to South London. Good luck and it does get better!

Just a thought but have also have you had her checked for tongue tie? The two often go together it seems.

Babu Vadamayalan is the consultant for reflux at Kings as others have said.

Claire Kedves is one of the breastfeeding co-ordinators / specialists at Kings and can check for tongue tie for you if you leave her a message.

Katie fisher is also able to check, she works at Kings and privately. if you search her name on here, her number will come up.

Just wanted to say a really big thanks for all these messages and PMs. It really helped. I took her to see Babu Vadamayalan in the end, which at least reassured me that I am doing everything that I can.

I had already been in touch with both Clare and Katie, who are great and gave me some other ideas too.

Thankfully she's having a better few days at the mo.

    • I've seen my cat many times walk straight past a fox, at less than half a metre separation. both animals ignored each other.
    • The young ones can bite car tyres around this time of year - I assume they do it for the thrill of the hiss or something like that.  We had a spate of damaged tyres and thought it was a disturbed person or at a stretch an environmental protestor taking it too far, but caught a fox on a house camera.
    • Although this sounds worrying, a "bitey" fox is unusual. I see foxes all the time where I live near Rye Lane and have never experienced this. I've even seen a fox sitting in the garden where an outdoor cat lives, whilst the cat was there - the cat was fine and is still alive. I think my flat is on a fox path because I hear and see them most nights, none of the local cats seem bothered by them. I can't help but wonder what would make the fox act in such a way, I've just read that toxoplasmosis might make them more aggressive
