In Wales there are 4 independence parties according to Wiki

"Four parties have declared they will stand on a pro-independence platform in the May 2021 elections: Plaid Cymru, the Wales Green Party, Gwlad Gwlad and Propel (though Propel is not yet registered by the Electoral Commission)."

When I was a kid I thought all rock bands had a colour in their name - Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, Red Zeppelin, Pink Faries and the like.

All Scottish independence parties need to be led by a fish, I look forward to Pike from Dad's army, Captain Haddock from Tin Tin, and Alfie Bass setting up their own, albeit some from the grave.

This smacks more of personal than political, even Farage realised that by standing at the last GE, votes for his party would undermine the chances of the Tories winning and thereby Brexit completing.

The bigger the SNP's win the more chance there'll be of Johnson being forced politically to agree to a second referendum...

Not that I disagree with the sentiment, but doesn?t Scotland?s system of PR make this a different calculation there?

he plans to stand on "list" seats not "constituency"

"Chris Hopkins, associate director of the polling company Savanta ComRes, said the launch of the Alba Party would give SNP voters the chance to use their ?otherwise wasted? list votes on another pro-independence party."

That's a good point alex, totally forgot that Scottish Parliament elections are run on a form of PR.

According to this article...https://www.holyrood.com/comment/view,what-impact-could-alex-salmonds-alba-party-have-on-the-election...polls are needed (some due this weekend) to see what/if any effect voting for Alba will have.

The article does suggest votes for Alba could help unionist parties in certain regions, but it also suggests that Alba is targeting pro-Indy, socially conservative, Brexit voters, so I presume they mean voters that want to vote Indy but would never vote for the SNP because they consider them to be left wing.

All ifs, buts and maybes at this stage...

    • The Commons Public Accounts Committee questioned both the CEO and MD of Capita yesterday, at their last meeting before the recess:  https://committees.parliament.uk/event/25889/formal-meeting-oral-evidence-session/.  In October they'd already expressed concern that Capita might not  be able to efficiently retake over responsibility for the administration within the timescale. Given the joint statement recently issued by Capita and the Cabinet Office I'm not sure that contacting an MP is going to add much, other than venting what I think most of us can probably appreciate of what those affected are likely  to be thinking and feeling; unless perhaps, and I hope it's not needed, to report on deficiencies in the immediate rescue actions.
