Schools sometimes have to take a decision to close on a morning if bad weather means insufficient staff will make it in to Safely supervise pupils, or if the school site isn't safe due to snow/ice.

Even if they do open, high levels of pupil absence often mean lessons don't run as normal. And where transport difficulties might mean travel home for staff is likely to be very difficult or dangerous, early closure is likely.

Staff are also affected if their own children are sent home from school.

And some parents wish to collect their children early.

Anyway, we will see. I am on standbybtoget up to the horniman if the chance arises!

The school is responsible for children until parents arrive, in case of closure, and staff living near the school are expected to be first in and last to leave on such days, so any pupils who can't be collected are looked after, don't worry.

I’m really excited to offer childcare services from now until January! I've got a lot of experience working with kids, from helping out with Year 1-5 students every Wednesday at the local primary school to volunteering at a babies hospice for a month as part of my DofE. Since I played lacrosse and netball for my school, I love being active, and with Art being one of my A-Levels, I'm all about fun, creative activities! If you're looking for a babysitter or someone to help with after-school care, I’d love to help out! I’m passionate about making sure kids have a good time and learn new things, and I’m excited to bring my artistic skills and love for staying active to your child's day. • Our Barry Road house buidings insurance has just DOUBLED due to new “Surface Water Flood Risk Assessment Maps” from the GLA or Southwark Council or HM Govt DEFRA Dept Environment. Insurers are refusing cover or creaming off huge premium rises hidden behind “global warming” & “climate change” & “mitigation measures”. With all new techy charts, maps, reports, diagrams, they just demand 40% extra payment with zero ecidence and wrong data, quoting scientific sounding reports & maps & charts which they quote wrongly.    Navigating the between the Southwark Council, the GLA, DERA, the Financial Ombudsman and insurance is a nightmare. It’s so convoluted, remote, uncontactable and factually wrong that it amounts to 21st C PROTECTION RACKET. Suggestions please or support, to know more, full story + contacts+ organise.
