Music in the local community

Recommended Posts

Endurance Steel Orchestra is a non-profit organisation that is based in South East London. It gives young people the opportunity to express and develop their musical talent. The musicians' ages range from 13 to 23 and many have a gift for playing other instruments in addition to the steel pan.

Endurance was created by Marlon Hibbert, in 2009, with a view to form a band that would actively encourage young people to participate positively in their local community.

Although Endurance hasn't been running for long, it continues to build a strong repertoire of calypso/soca, jazz, soul, reggae and classical music, allowing the band to entertain audiences at various types of functions. From birthday parties to weddings and corporate events.

Aside from gigging throughout the year, we also give young people the chance to experience performing at the Notting Hill Carnival and various pan competitions.

Alongside the main band, Endurance also provides steel pan classes for children at affordable prices. Our main band rehearse on Friday evenings 5-8pm & our junior band on Monday evenings 5-6pm.

Please don't hesitate to contact us for further information.

    • I understand that, but I can't really grasp how it works in practice, but never mind 😵‍💫
    • It's local independent shops supporting one another.
    • Adding my recommendation for Niko too. Found his number on here and he came out at short notice on a busy weeknight to help us with a kitchen sink issue that had flooded our kitchen that day. Really helpful, responsive and went out of his way to fit us in and help us out. Very reasonably priced too - would thoroughly recommend!
    • Looks like it! Though according to the OP, they are "golden, hand-crimped parcels  packed with flavour" 😀 I don't understand. Admittedly my brain is functioning at a very low level at the moment. Does that mean various local shops get together and agree to offer a discount to anyone who shows them a receipt from one of the other ones dated the same day? I can't see what's in it for either of them, unless people shop somewhere they wouldn't otherwise have done just to get the discount. Is it for vaguely  linked things, say cheese from a cheese shop, wine from another shop? Showing my age there.  And then suppose it's always the same shop which people go to second to get the discount? What's in it for the first shop? People go there in order to get the discount in the second shop?
