Hello,

Thank you for expressing an interest in operating from the former Peckham Rye Park Bowling green and pavilion site.

We had an excellent response to the public consultation held last year with over 300 completed surveys; demonstrating the high level of interest in this area and passion for the wider Peckham Rye Park and common.

We have collated and analysed the responses, and the report is attached for your information.

The recommendations from the report were to advertise for a lease holder to run a facility from the area initially for a short term of up to two years. A shorter term will allow the council to monitor the use of the facility and survey park visitor opinions over that period before agreeing any extension to the lease.

The opportunity is open to bids from both the commercial and community/charitable sectors and from a wide range of possible uses which only need to adhere to the constraints identified in the advert.

The lease opportunity is now being advertised at;

www.southwark.gov.uk/properties-to-let/property/36019

We are seeking expressions of interest. We expect to close to new applications in early May.

If you have any questions, please ask and thanks again for your interest in this project.

Kind regards,

Matthew Hill

    • Do you believe this is actually going to happen?!   Demolition was supposed to start in the summer but the Labour government have pulled the plug. Even Labour councillors have had to begin petitioning the government to keep the project alive. https://www.southwarklabour.com/2025/10/03/labour-councillors-launch-petition-for-peckham-rye-station-upgrade/ It's dead in the water surely?
    • Yep CRP Dave. It reminded me of Jess Phillips a couple of weeks ago, when the grooming gangs enquiry started going tits up.  It's not very statesman-like to lose your shit like that in the chamber. It's one unedifying display after another.
    • no need to be snipey mulumbo - just trying to understand what you want to achieve - if you have what you need great - no need to be ungrateful or unkind
    • He should be. His behaviour has been appalling. Refusing to comply with a Speaker's request to come back to the HoC and explain himself shows utter contempt to parliament and the electorate. If he had any any integrity he would resign. Nothing to do with the prisoner, but all to do with his arrogance and contempt. This Labour party don't have any integrity at all though. We are two weeks away from the Chancellor of the Exchequer breaking a fundamental manifesto commitment. Breaking promises like demeans the entire contract between voters and MPs. If she doesn't resign for breaking those promises (she won't) then all manifesto promises going forward have to also be treated as lies, not worth the paper they are written on.  She should have already resigned herself for the breaking the law over her failure to register as a landlord. They are an absolute disgrace. And whilst all this farce plays out in Downing St where the fuck is the Prime Minister? Nowhere to be seen, unanswerable to the public about this disgraceful shambles.
