Kat_in_Dulwich
Just come across this thread and have to disagree with the complaint. This little cafe adds massively to the neighbourhood and charm of East Dulwich. The food is delicious, the staff lovely, the prices are good and we are lucky to have it! With regards to the concerns of space and getting past - now more than ever it should be the councils responsibility to widen the pavement and give small businesses like this extra space to accommodate their guests and cater to the community. If necessary stop cars from parking in front of the cafe and allocate that space to extra tables! We are lucky to have the Blue Brick and should all be supporting independent businesses especially now! Dogkennelhillbilly
"it should be the councils responsibility to widen the pavement..."Gonna make it difficult for the bin lorries to get around the corner if the pavement around the corner has been widened to fit more tables in. Same result if tables are plonked along the double yellow lines, in fact. Fine by me if some car parking spaces are taken away though Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/282607-blue-cafe-pavement/page/3/#findComment-1508586 Share on other sites
Lynne
Life would be very awkward if every shop and cafe in ED decided they owned the pavement too Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/282607-blue-cafe-pavement/page/3/#findComment-1508619 Share on other sites
KidKruger
This is one single cafe in the backstreets of ED.Not all cafes. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/282607-blue-cafe-pavement/page/3/#findComment-1508621 Share on other sites
Lynne
If one, why not everyone? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/282607-blue-cafe-pavement/page/3/#findComment-1508741 Share on other sites

Dogkennelhillbilly
Lynne Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Life would be very awkward if every shop and cafe> in ED decided they owned the pavement tooWe have a limited amount of precious streetscape, and much of it is used for storing cars that spend 90% of their existence stationary. We could have plenty of space for pedestrians and street diners if we reduced the amount of parking spaces by just 10%. But that's "controversial", and it's better to have wheelchair users and cafes bicker over 6" of pavement width. KidKruger
Lynne Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> If one, why not everyone?Because the thread wasn?t started about everyone, it was started about this single instance of a small backstreet cafe. Jules-and-Boo
A pedestrian area would be great. There are too many cars. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/282607-blue-cafe-pavement/page/3/#findComment-1508879 Share on other sites
