New cafe on North Cross Rd

EDNA

Recommended Posts

The guys from Duck Egg cafe (apparently already one in Brixton) were at the market today in place of the splendid Dogfather doing lovely breakfast baguettes mmm and they said they are replacing Grace & Favour with a cafe opening early Feb.

Not sure we need another cafe on that road but lovely friendly guys so hey I say welcome to the neighbourhood! :)

Another.. Restaurant ... Another Cafe...

Dosn't anybody cook anymore... Can people not make a cup of tea or coffee.

Where are all the Builders 'Caffs' Too common for E.D. ??

When I was a small child (Pre School), my mother did not have time to sit inside/outside cafes all day.

She spent all day Cleaning,Washing,Ironing,Shopping,Cooking...Primarily looking after me.

I spend my day doing my chores to keep my home clean. I certainly don't have time to sit in cafes or pubs.

Just don't get it.

Love finding out about the history - I personally LOVE cafes and would spend far more time in them given the option... When on maternity leave cafes were my refuge and break from being stuck in the house, so the more the merrier as far as I am concerned. I still love whiling away time having coffee and a sandwich at a local cafe, change of scene and dsnt cost much more than buying it from the supermarket these days!!

  • 1 month later...

if you're looking for sourdough toast, homemade baked beans, delicious mushrooms and beautifully creamy scrambled eggs, you won't find it here. There are better quality breakfasts to be had elsewhere.

Its not bad, its just quite standard. It's a nice space to be in, pleasant enough staff and service, lovely fresh squeezed orange juice. A bit of a shame food-wise they don't compete with the better establishments in ED...

    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
    • I made sure to set off a few today just to rile you guys up 😇😂 Always looking for something to criticise
    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may well be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
    • I strongly recommend Balayage salon in Lordship lane as everytime I visit, they make me feel very spicial with thier profisionalism and care.   I have been going there for the last 10 years maybe more, and will never exchange them for any other. They are profisional, welcoming and they also always have an offer. I feel like a new woman every time. X
