PeckhamNicola
Can anyone recommend a structural surveyor for a specific piece of work: I have a speed bump right outside my house, and every time a bus or heavy vehicle goes past my house shakes, which can't be doing it much good I feel. I want proof that damage is being done so I can attempt to get the Council to remove it (or reassurance it is not causing damage). Also, has anyone else tried getting the Council to do this? I suspect it would be a long and drawn out process. Any advice? Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/28491-wanted-recommendation-for-structural-surveyor/ Share on other sites
Naturalashyboyd
Hi there,Just wondering if you ever found a recommended structural surveyor. We are looking for one to view a house in need of complete refurbishment. Any advice would be appreciated. PeckhamNicola
David Puttock of David Joseph Consulting very kindly came round to my house to see if it appeared any of the cracks in the plaster were to do with the buses passing or just normal for a Victorian house. He also dug out a useful thread for me from the internet on the same subject. So you could give him a try. werdna101
HiHave you had any success with the council on this. I think I've got the same problem on my road so any advice on how to get the issue resolved would be gratefully received! Thanks,Andrew Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/28491-wanted-recommendation-for-structural-surveyor/#findComment-631027 Share on other sites
PeckhamNicola
I contacted my local councillor and he has arranged to come round with another councillor to see the effect this is having on my house. I am going to speak to the neighbours to see if they have the same concerns and to get a bit more support (hopefully). So I would suggest contacting your local councillor as a first step. Their surgery times are published online. The surveyor I mentioned before gave me a link to a thread from near where I live where they eventually managed to get the speed bumps removed. This forum doesn't seem to like it when I try to add a link but you can find it by googling South East Central, go to the forum and then search for "Ivydale & Nunhead Roads".
