building plans

Hi everyone

I've received planning permission for a loft conversion and side extension. Unfortunately, the architect who drew up the plans and submitted the application made a basic mistake and I no longer wish to instruct him. I now need to move on to the next stage (RIBA stage 4) and get detailed design plans for building regulations. I'd be grateful for advice/recommendations on any of the following:

1. someone who can do detailed designs, along with construction notes for building regs.

2. a structural engineer

3. inspector for building regs - best to go private or from Southwark Council? If private, recommendations welcome.

Many thanks.

    • I can't, but I'm sure ChatGPT could, if you ask it! With Windows 11, you can share documents, eg with work colleagues, via a setting. Probably it's the same with iPads etc and the solicitor has accidentally or deliberately shared it with your friend? I'm sure the solicitor can explain it if asked. Hopefully it wasn't an accident!
    • Yes of course a lot of it is total bollocks. And of course the House of Lords is ridiculous. But the class system etc isn't because we have a "royal family", is it?
    • Can't remember where I got them, online somewhere recommended by my daughter, but they are cloth and brightly coloured and fit quite tightly around my nose and mouth. I've still got a stock of them. Tissues inside might help a bit,  but if you have a very runny nose you basically need to keep removing the mask to blow it. Luckily I have only had to go out once when I've had  a bad cold. Sorry, probably too much information.
    • To be fair to Royalists, it didn't work out too well for anyone last time we canned the monarchy. I'd imagine quite a few French, Germans, Spanish, Portuguese and Russians had second thoughts after they' found out what you get in their place - those really didn't work out well. Maybe elected heads of state only work well where there's never been a monarchy. The countries I'd aspire to - the Scandinavian states, The Netherlands - have slimmed down monarchies, and that looks like the way we're moving. I'd take that and abolition of an unelected upper house, most particularly the hereditary element of it, as a decent starting point.
