AylwardS
This is not new, although I couldn?t find another thread via search, but we?ve had a number of calls over the last few weeks so it?s current and with more people working at home and using their internet people might be more likely to give the information requested. The call says there are issues with broadband speeds in the area or someone has accessed on your connection. Well those are the two we had. BT Openreach don?t provide broadband to customers direct - they provide Virgin, Plusnet etc. This was news to me as my husband sorts anything related to this. I use it and know how to reboot the router but that?s about it. BT Openreach say on their website?Openreach will never ask you for personal information like bank details ? either in person, over the phone or by email. We?ll also never ask to remotely access your computer, phone or tablet. So if someone gets in touch saying they?re from Openreach and asks for any personal information, don?t give it to them.? alex_b
Thanks for sharing. The sensible advice is always hang up and call the supplier on a number you know is correct. Minor correction Openreach don?t supply Virgin (who have their own network) but do supply everyone else.
