Rather sweeping statement about the public and food safety. Half the reason we got to this situation was the demand for cheap food.


JSG was not a great agriculture minister. The 'stunt' which I remember at the time back fired as the burger was too hot for his daughter.


Yet subsequently as the environment minister and now chair of the Climate Change Committee Gummer (aka Lord Debden) has become a hero of the environmental movement. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/feb/14/climate-change-floods-government


Anyway totally off thread but I have a lot of respect for his later activities, not often a fan of Tory ministers.

Really and seriously, snogging a turd like Handcock.


FFS, bad taste all round. He once did a press conference whilst ?saving lives? wearing an orange plastic strapped watch.


You?d think Mrs Oliver Bonas might have more taste, but it seems his slimy hand on the arse whilst sixth form snogging is quite exiting.


That given, you?re hardly going to get the sack (for anything) from Bojo?s Circus are you.

Seems like a lot of manufactured outrage here.


Objection to Ferguson going across town a year ago, is different to 'clinches' in the stairwell....and even if it isn't....apart from his wife and her husband, and their kids...who give a f?ck.....I've said this about cheating politicians of all colours.....it's an amusing situation (I use that loosely)...but does it really impact their job......?


He was doing a sh-t job anyway...did this really make a difference?

I can't see how Hancock can ever be taken seriously again as the health minister in a pandemic. For that reason alone he really has to go. Giving a substantial PPE contract to the woman's brother is almost what we expect from this shower. If he has broken 'the law' as it was then, shouldn't he face consequences? He was quite keen for Ferguson to do so.

I think it does make a difference for a few reasons.


First the hypocrisy, yes Fergusson was across town in a lockdown, but Hancock demanded his resignation and prosecution He also explicitly told people not to hug family members two days before that photo was taken.


Second and more importantly is the use of public funds, he used our money to pay her and appears to have also given her brother a huge PPE contract.


Finally his answer to any question (e.g. over the Cummings testimony) has been I?ve been 100% focused on our NHS. This is clearly a lie because at least some of his time was spent employing his girlfriend so they could have fun times in the office.

The PM should have done the right thing at the time, sacking Cummings last summer and the Health Secretary now. Most former ministers come back at a later time when things have died down so generally not the end of your career. Oddly it was the making in some ways for Profumo, as he dedicated the rest of his life to charity.


The PM would get credit from those of us who don't particularly rate him, and it would have no damage at all to his majority as the masses probably don't care either way. His inability to make a decision is probably his biggest fault. There are lots. And all PMs have faults, just this one more than most.

I missed this bit - a new suspect emerges (The App writer)

      Yep, of course I do - did you not read the bit from the survey about the noise having a negative impact on foraging bats? And like @Angelina I'm aware it affects other people, and if no one complains then it gives them an argument that's it's all ok.  The tree in question was a cherry that everyone loves, didn't need to be touched, and the council admitted was a mistake and shouldn't have happened.  The council and Gala use the 'local' narrative as a benefit, without any figures to back it up. It is used as an argument for the event to go ahead, when there's no basis of fact. The attendees are clearly not local as they've proved they don't give a **** about the area. The council do tell us where the money is spent - 100% on running the Events dept, and a myriad of unlisted free events. They just don't tell us how much, so that we can make an informed decision on whether the gain is with the pain.  Sorry, what was your point again?

      Lots of people are concerned about the impact on the environment.  I’m not personally bothered by the noise but I know people are and I will therefore lend my support in challenging the management and location of the event.
