Was it just me who didn't know this?

Is this some kind of moral stance because of tax evasion, or something else?

I only found out by chance - just in time to make a purchase I had been putting off :))

On Nectar's website earlier this evening they had something about "reviewing their partnership with Amazon blah blah" but I can't find it now (probably looking in the wrong place), only this statement:

From 1st February 2013 Nectar collectors will no longer be able to collect points with Amazon.co.uk. The good news ( :)) :)) :)) ) is that you can still collect Nectar points at over 500 online brands. Find out more here.

The "Find out more here" takes you to the other shops, not to more information about why Amazon has been dropped/has left the scheme.

I think the actual return you get on nectar points is rubbish. When they teamed up with Easy Jet I made a point of trying to collect them. Got a nectar credit card, etc etc. A year down the line and I only have ?48 worth of points and given how much I've spent to get there I've decided to chase Avios instead.

I agree the return is rubbish, on the other hand if you shop in those places anyway and they are the cheapest price (or there is some additional advantage eg convenience), they're worth having.

I saved up around ?150 over a few years which was very handy, and I've now got around another ?50.

But I'd never buy anything just to get the points :)

But I use Amazon quite a lot and it's often the cheapest when you factor in free delivery (not always).

I haven't flown anywhere for years so that's not an issue for me :)

Ah. Well if you didn't already know, eBay now do Nectar as well (fairly recently started).

And what's more, with eBay, once you've set it up, you don't have to remember to go through the Nectar site each time :)

And I think it's a bit unfair all this tax evasion criticism. If I could find a legal way not to pay tax, not that I pay much these days, I would bloody go down that road as well !

ETA: I'm sure there's probably at least one thread on the forum already about this, but it's up to the Government to change the tax rules, so blame them, bloody Tories making the rich richer and the poor poorer, GRRRRRRR.

    • Well, they do turn them away from the A&E route at Kings and rightly so they employ GPs and if after triaging you’re determined to have a GP type problem you are sent to see one of the GPs on site or close to the site.
    • My bike (a ELOPS 120 step over classic from Decathlon) was stolen from outside The Belham this afternoon. I locked it up while I collected my kids, then the street was so busy that I left it there while I walked them home. Did a few other things at home, came back about 5.30pm and it was gone. Sharing just in case anyone sees it or finds it anywhere - it’s a few years old and the chain is a bit rusty/makes a clicking sound so maybe there’s a slight chance someone would dump it! Really annoying and just a reminder to be really careful with bikes. The picture shows the bike model from the Decathlon website.
    • Thanks, I didn't know that.  People are even more stupid than I thought then, if they are willing to wait hours in A&E for an ingrown toenail. I presume they don't get put at the front of the queue. Why isn't the 111 service more widely advertised? That puts you in touch with a doctor, who will advise on the phone or visit, and if necessary  you will be advised to go to A&E or they will arrange an ambulance to take you.
