We are looking to rent out a large 4 bedroom family house on Peckham Rye. (The kitchen is open plan which means it is unsuitable for sharers because it would not get an HMO licence.)

Two double bedrooms, one suitable as an office with unimpeded access from the front; two single bedrooms; wet room, bathroom; sitting room; dining room; kitchen and breakfast room; secure patio garden; secure parking space. All mod cons. Available August. Minimum rental period 10 months. Furnished or unfurnished. Fabulous house. ?2,500pcm.

Sorry, no photos or viewings until end June.

PM me if interested. Might sell to the right buyer at the right price.

If there are three or more people in two or more households, landlords need an HMO licence.

For most landlords, getting a licence is expensive and the process is apparently long-winded and cumbersome. For our house, we have been advised that structural alterations would be required to close off the open plan kitchen/ dining room (because they are separated by stairs. It is for that reason that the house is described as a 'family house'.

Good luck finding somewhere nice (and don't forget to ask about the HMO licence)!

    • As a slight woman in my mid 60's who's an avid walker I find these reports really upsettting and to be honest they put me off the idea of walking around the area for relaxation and pleasure like I used to. Most disturbing is the report of them threatening to kill someones dog and trying to kick it- I'm streetwise having been born and brought up in Notting Hill long before it was gentrified, and I lived in NYC for awhile in the 80's but there was'nt this senseless nastiness attacking and intimidating people for 'sport' that there seems to be now. Not long ago I had two females on a 185 bus just pushing me and cussing me for no reason whatsover-I confronted them about it and they carried on and started threatening to kill me...I honestly have no idea why. probably Just trying to intimidate me..another passenger advised me to get off because he could see they were jabbing me in the side and pushing me around-I did get off and realised I was actually really shaken up and scared they'd followed me. I dont know why there is so much anger and hatred in the world it saddens me.
