Decoratoe recommendation - Hanoushka

I agree with DJT. Hussein decorated our living room earlier this year and did a great job. He has just finished painting our front door and some outside plastering. Friendly and reliable and definitely recommend. Hussein's number is 07491 113036

I sadly cannot recommend Hussein.

Hussein demanded an unreasonably large upfront deposit. He refused to compromise - e.g. be paid a sum at the end of the week for each weeks work/some form of staged payments. And this was after turning up at 10.30am(!) to start his working day despite saying he?d be there at 9am... given we had a ~1 month lead time to getting him in he has completely messed up our timeline. Disappointing experience and would not recommend.

We ended up using Yaro @ UkrStars (https://ukrstars.co.uk/) who I can happily recommend.

Hello Ludo,

We are sorry that you found it unusual to make a deposit or staged payment upfront but this really is industry standard.

We did discuss that the amount would be split into 3 staged payments with 1/3 to be paid upfront in order to pay for materials and also as a form of security to cover work done until the next staged payment.

It was discussed with your partner who did not seem surprised by this arrangement and said to send you the bank details which I did and you responded "sure, we can discuss tomorrow", and as such we started the work in good faith, with filling and a mist coat in order to get started. The next day I met with you, after having started the work the day before, and you then said that you would like to pay at the end. After back and forward it became clear that we would not find a solution that would make us both feel comfortable, so it was best that didn't continue to enable you to find someone that would work in the way that you wanted regarding payment and we also didn't charge you for the prep work done.

We hope that you are happy with the work you recieved from your chosen contractor and we wish you and your family all the very best.

Kind regards,

Hussein

Just want to add another 5-star review for Hussein and the team at Hanoushka.

We've had two rooms painted in the last year, both with excellent results. The first room required a fair bit of repair work and this was all undertaken to a good standard.

Very friendly and easy to deal with, tidy workers and we had no problem trusting them with keys to the house when were not in. Pricing is competitive and I agree that paying an up front deposit has seemed pretty standard for us with most work we've had done around the house.

Hussein will be our first choice for all future decorating jobs, we have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone looking!

We recently had our home in Forest Hill redecorated and I just wanted to give a recommendation for Hussein and his team from Hanoushka Design. We were really happy with the quality and timeliness of their work. But also, Hussein was always responsible and flexible snd the decorators really nice people to have around the house. Contacts are: https://www.hanoushka.com/ and 07491 113036.

We had our house repainted by Hanoushka Decoration and Design this year (https://www.hanoushka.com/) and I wanted to post a recommendation in case anyone needed some painting / decoration done. Hussein was brilliant to work with and very accommodating. He was able to quickly organise the paint colours that we needed and had lots of pictures of other clients work that was useful for inspiration. His team worked quick and did a really thorough and neat job. Would definitely recommend them!

    • when high streets are filled with betting shops, pound shops, empty sites and just run down - as is the case in many places - of course people don't want to go there - either for essentials or to hang out or shop-shop. a multi-fronted approach is exactly what is needed - upgrade the areas, encourage footfall, encourage new shops etc - BUT that has to be supported by consumers - who need to stop being lazy with amazon and home deliveries and make better choices.

    • There was mention yesterday, which may have slipped by some, that the Goverment is about to launch a "pride in place" £5 billion investment into city and town centres to boost high streets, parks and public spaces. I can see two flaws with this. Firstly it's a sticking plaster over a problem that the government doesn't seem to want to tackle. The decline of town centres is largely down to the impact caused by large players including the Internet giants, (non bricks and morter), who seem not to be paying the appropriate amount of taxes or even bypassing them by sending small value items into the UK. Until the playing field is leveled to give high streets an equal chance, consumers will naturally go for the best price. This would also increase the tax revenue the Chancellor has to play with and keep money in the local economy . Second issue I see is that when we are all staring down the barrel of a potential £30 billion tax hike in the budget, is this the right time to be announcing even more spending. Feels that maybe waiting till the economy is tracking better would be prudent.  Of course the argument could be, improving the town centre realm , improves consumer confidence to shop locally, but unless the first point is fixed it could be a case of throwing bad money after good.   BBC News - Which areas are due to get share of £5bn funding boost? - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1mx8vr2gr1o
